The Identity of Purity
A Teenage Girl's Guide to Sexual Purity
Purity is about so much more than saying “no” to sex. It begins with knowing who you are—and Whose you are.
The Identity of Purity helps girls build their understanding of beauty, worth, relationships, sexuality, and purity on their identity in Christ rather than the constantly changing messages of the world around them.
Written primarily for teenage girls, the book can be read independently by teens, read together by moms and daughters, or used with girls in church, youth, mentoring, and small-group studies.

3 Ways to Use The Identity of Purity
-
Designed primarily for teen girls to read independently, The Identity of Purity speaks directly to the questions and pressures young women face as they develop their identity, navigate relationships, and make decisions about purity. Each chapter points girls back to God's Word and the truth of who He created them to be.
-
You don't have to wait until the teenage years to begin conversations about identity, beauty, relationships, and purity. Younger girls are already receiving messages from the world about what makes them beautiful, valuable, and accepted.
Moms of younger girls can read The Identity of Purity alongside their daughters, using the topics and discussion questions throughout the book to begin age-appropriate conversations. In fact, the book originally began as the girls' devotional for an 8-week mother/daughter program.
-
The Identity of Purity can also serve as the foundation for a girls' small group, youth study, or mentoring group. Churches and leaders have used the book to walk girls through biblical conversations about identity, relationships, sexual purity, character, modesty, and God's purpose for their lives.

Where The Identity of Purity Began
The Identity of Purity didn't begin as a traditional book. It was originally written as the girls' devotional for Becoming, an 8-week program created for mothers and daughters to walk through together.
The goal was to help girls understand that sexual purity isn't simply about a list of things they shouldn't do. It's rooted in something much deeper—their identity, their value, their relationship with God, and understanding who He created them to be.
The original devotional was later edited into the book available today, making it possible for teenage girls to read independently while still retaining questions throughout that can open the door to meaningful conversations with moms, mentors, and group leaders.
Since then, The Identity of Purity has also found its way into church and small-group settings, where leaders have used the book to guide girls through these same conversations together.
What's Inside the Book?
The Identity of Purity goes beyond the subject of sexual abstinence to help girls understand the beliefs, relationships, influences, and choices that shape a life of purity.
Throughout the book, girls are encouraged to explore topics including:
Identity + Self-Worth
Understanding who you are in Christ, recognizing your God-given value, and learning not to allow culture, appearance, popularity, or relationships to define you.
Relationships + Influences
Recognizing healthy and unhealthy relationships, choosing friendships wisely, navigating attention from boys, and understanding how the people around you can influence your choices.
Temptation + Everyday Choices
Looking honestly at sexual temptation and other pressures girls face while learning how biblical wisdom, boundaries, and daily decisions help protect what they value.
Character + Purpose
Exploring humility, servanthood, godly character, the Proverbs 31 woman, and what it means to live with a purpose bigger than yourself.
Modesty + God's Design for Sexuality
Moving beyond rules about clothing or behavior to consider the heart behind modesty, respect for your body, God's design for sexuality, and the purpose of sexual purity.
Preparing for the Future
Encouraging girls to think beyond today's relationships and pressures toward the woman they are becoming, the marriage they may one day have, and the life God is preparing them to live.
More Than a Book About “Don't”
At its heart, The Identity of Purity isn't about frightening girls away from sex or giving them another list of rules to follow.
It's an invitation to understand why purity matters—and how knowing their identity, value, and purpose in Christ can shape the choices they make today and the women they become tomorrow.
More than a book to read—an opportunity to start conversations that matter.
